 Experiences with Maha Periyava: My Memories of Maha Periyaval

Once my father went to Maha Periyaval and said, “I am one of the directors of Mettur Chemical and Industrial Corporation. We have certain policies which we follow in the meetings of the Board of Directors. If the company makes a large profit in one year, we set apart a certain amount as reserve, another amount for depreciation of assets in the factories, another amount for dividend equalisation if possible for the future lean years etc. Our Mutt should follow a similar policy. Whatever income comes to the Mutt, Maha Periyaval and Pudu Periyaval give away and spend it immediately on various dharma kainkaryams. One should not do so but save some amount for the future when income of the Mutt may not be good and expenses may be heavy.”

Maha Periyaval smiled at my father and asked “Do you know what Pudu Periyaval’s Janma Nakshathram is?”

My father replied: “Avittam.”

His Holiness: “Don’t worry about the Mutt’s finances. Pudu Periyaval has got Dhana Rekhai in his hand and money will always come for whatever project he starts.”

How prophetic and truthful that utterance was. Over the past five decades, for the hundreds of projects – religious, social or educational which the Pudu Periyaval has started, Goddess Lakshmi has always blessed with Kanakadhara, through various individuals and institutions.
